A lot of rumors were circling the internet regarding a price drop regarding the Wii. Those rumors have turned into confirmation from Nintendo. The Wii will now sell for $149.99 on May 15th, and select video games will be receiving a price drop. Among these titles are The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Mario Super Sluggers, and Wii Sports.

Each of these games will sell for the price of $19.99, and they are the first of many to follow. The new system bundle will package Mario Kart, the Wii Wheel, Wii Remote plus, and finally a nunchuk.

Mass Effect 3 Delayed into early 2012

This one hits close to the heart, but I’m sorry to report that Mass Effect 3 won’t release in october. Bioware has reported that the game will be delayed into the first quarter of 2012. Executive Producer Casey Hudson posted this delay on facebook earlier today:

Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.

Sad to hear, but at least we know it won’t be rushed out the door.

Sony Online Entertainment remains offline

PSN is scheduled to return some time this week, but there is no word when people can login to again. A statement was released by Sony regarding this service interruption:

“We have been working around the clock to restore operations as quickly as possible, and we expect to have some of our games and services up and running soon,” the company said. “However, we want to be very clear that we will only restore operations when we believe that the network is secure.”

The publisher says they will try to make good on the interruption, and try to provide some sort of compensation. As of now DCUO players will receive a free 30 days, and receive a “Batman inspired mask” to run around in. Interesting!

Nintendo’s new “Project Cafe” console playable at E3

The announcement took everyone by surprise, a Nintendo system would be the first to outclass Sony and Microsoft. While being completely backwards compatible with the Wii itself, and finally breaking into the high definition age. Now it’s confirmed that the console will actually be showcased and playable at E3 this year. It is reported to have a touchscreen display, dual-analog sticks, and the ability to stream directly from the console.

I for one can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeves, and how he touchscreen will work with modern day consoles. For the full scoop, head on over to IGN where they have a bit more information. Update: A mock-up of the controller has recently surfaced, as well as some sleek screens of what could be the console. Now this controller looks entirely to be a work of art for the system.

This could easily be a concept version for us to get a visual of what they have in mind. It shows off most of what has been reported from various sites. We will have to wait until E3 to see if it’s true, or if Nintendo releases any early news regarding it. For now it looks like a safe bet that this system could be the merging of tablet and console gaming. Nintendo has confirmed that the system will release sometime in 2012.

EA is being sued over long lost royalties by the creator of the Madden series

Is it just me, or is Electronic Arts always being sued over something new? Like the classic Godfather 3 film, they tried to get out of their evil ways only to be pulled back in. Luckily, their lesson won’t come in the form of a dead daughter, but more in the shape of greenbacks. The creator of the Madden franchise has come out of the woodwork with a heavy lawsuit.

Robin Antonick (The creator) claims that he was bamboozled out of financial due. Apparently, he was told that the code used during his time spent with EA was no longer in use for later iterations. Over 23 years have passed since he was officially credited on the game, and he has not gained a single royalty for a Madden game since.

Antonick claims that his code is still in use to this day, and he wants his checking account to match it. This is a serious claim for EA on such a troll filled day. Though someone not noticing how similar a game looks for 23 years… is kind of funny isn’t it?
