I thought Steep looked interesting when I saw it for the first time. That’s not saying that I thought it was a great game otherwise. It looks like a giant empty game with the same design across a large area. Which isn’t a big problem for most open-world games because you’re focused on doing other things like blowing people away.

In Steep, you’re locked into snowboarding, skiing, or paragliding this mountain landscape that doesn’t really change. While that may be intriguing for snowboard people, I don’t see enough here that would warrant me to purchase it for $59.99. I want it to take some risks other than having an MMO style world. Shredding snow is going to get old real quick without a range of objectives to complete that aren’t directly related to snowboarding.

Skate and Tony Hawk games always had varying ideas based on trick play. This game just seems so stale when compared to those games. I don’t know man… I don’t know. Judge for yourself in this nearly 3 minute video!
